Possible Drowning in Bull Shoals Lake of Illinois Man

 

On Saturday, June 23, 2012 at approximately 8:09 PM, the Marion County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call, of a possible drowning. The missing person, David Grissom, age 38, of Freeport, Illinois, was with a group of friends on a pontoon, when he dove in to the water, loss grip from a floatation device and never resurfaced. The incident occurred on the Bull Shoals Lake, just north of the “Browns Beach” area, in waters from ranging from approximately 30-200 feet deep.

On Monday, June 25, 2012, the search was suspended. Grissom has yet to be located. However, regular water patrols of the area will be conducted. Assisting in the search were: the Marion County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team, National Park Service, US Army Corp of Engineers, Arkansas Game and Fish, AGFC Dive Team, Missouri Water Patrol, Bull Shoals Lake Boat Dock, and five deep diving instructors from Illinois, whom happened to be in the area teaching and volunteered their assistance.
